Remove 'Set As Desktop Background'

We all personalize our computer to some degree such as applying custom themes, organizing folders with dedicated Icons that represent It's contents and the list goes on. Having an attractive desktop background, Is certainly part of this equation and If you have multiple users on your PC, they can alter It at any time. As such, In this tutorial, I will show you how to completely remove the Set as desktop background feature from the right-click context menu.

Before I begin, here's what I'm referring to. Upon right-clicking an Image file, you will see the Set as desktop background feature as shown below. This allows you to do exactly that- set the Image that you've right-clicked, as the new desktop wallpaper on your computer.

Given you can do this, so too can any user who's sharing or has physical access to your computer. To help keep your desktop background Intact, I will demonstrate how to completely remove the Set as desktop background feature from the right-click menu.

To achieve this, I will use a neat little Registry file, that will automatically add the entries to the Windows Registry and remove the aforementioned feature thereafter. I have provided the download links to the Registry file, at the end of this article. The process Is extremely simple, so without further delay, let's get this tutorial started.

Step One:

Once you've downloaded the file, extract It's contents to a folder of your choice and double-click the Remove Background.reg file, It will prompt whether to add the entries to the Windows Registry, so hit Yes.

Step Two:

A message will be returned, confirming that the entries have been successfully added to the Registry, so click OK to finalize the process.

Step Three:

I've now right-clicked on my Image file named Windows 10 Tips, and as you can see, the Set as desktop background feature has been completely removed. Perfect!

Last Step:

In the event you want to reverse the process back to It's original state, simply double-click the Add background.reg file, and hit Yes.

Final Thoughts:

Although there are so many ways to apply a wallpaper to your computer's desktop, the first thing that an average computational user opts for when looking to change It, Is to right-click a given Image and select Set as desktop background. And that's what makes this tweak so effective- completely removing It from view.
