Create The Latest Windows 10 Installation Media

If you're planning to perform a clean Installation of Windows on your physical machine or on a VM (Virtual Machine), you must have either a bootable USB stick or an ISO file- both containing the operating system. Whilst there are quite a few online sources to download the OS file, not many offer the very latest release, nor Is the file's Integrity ensured. As a result, In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a Windows 10 Installation media with the very latest version via Microsoft.

There are many reasons to format your computer. For Instance, you never know If and when your operating system will corrupt to the point of having to reinstall Windows, hence It's always good practice to keep a copy on hand. Or perhaps you want the latest version/build of Windows 10. Either way, the safest option Is to obtain It via the official website, namely Microsoft.

I will demonstrate how to download and create a bootable Windows 10 Installation media, by using the Media Creation Tool released by Microsoft themselves. You can download the tool from here. Before you begin, be sure your system meets the requirements to Install Windows 10.

Essentially, you'll execute the tool, follow a few prompts and the Windows 10 OS will begin downloading from Microsoft's servers. It also allows you to create a bootable USB flash drive, but for the purpose of this tutorial, I will be using the ISO file option. So without further ado, let's get this started.

Step One:
Upon downloading the Media Creation Tool, here's a visual of what to expect. Simply double-click It to start the process.

Step Two:
The tool will now begin to prepare Itself, so be patient whilst It performs It's task. It shouldn't take any longer than a couple of minutes.

Step Three:
Next, the license agreement will be displayed, so hit the Accept button.

Step Four:
You're now given the option to either upgrade your PC, or create an Installation media. Obviously this article relates to the latter, so select that radio button as Illustrated below, and then hit Next.

Step Five:
The language and architecture (x86, x64 or both) must be selected, so do just that. It also asks to select the edition. I have no Idea why It does this, Windows 10 Is the only edition available! Don't forget to click Next.

Step Six:
The option to choose the media type, will be displayed. As said, I'm working with an ISO file, so I've selected that radio button. You can opt for the USB flash drive If you like. Hit Next to move forward.

Step Seven:
Now navigate to the directory where you want to save the file, name It, and then hit the Save button.

Last Step:
The Windows 10 file will start downloading. The duration, depends on the speed of your Internet connection and the available bandwidth. Now's a good time to make a cup of coffee! On completion, you'll have the latest Windows 10 operating system build at your disposal.

Final Thoughts:
Using the Media Creation Tool to download Windows 10, not only ensures a clean functional version, but also the very latest build available at the time. Do note, that you will need a valid product key to activate It when Installed. Also, If you have an old PC, don't forget to first check the system requirements, thus making sure your computer can In fact run Windows 10.
